WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A Derby woman who owned a day care has been sentenced to six months in jail for driving drunk with children in her vehicle.
Forty-nine-year-old Margaret E. Self also was sentenced Tuesday to one year probation. And she will pay the maximum fines for her second conviction of driving while intoxicated.
She was also ordered to pay fines and write letters of apology to parents of every child in her van when she was arrested.
Self ran Creative Connections Learning Center. It closed last October, after employees called police and said they thought she was driving drunk while taking 3-year-olds on a field trip.
Police records say Self's blood alcohol content was .118 when she was arrested.
