No New Leads, But Lots Of Talk Follow "48 Hours" Feature

Michael Sisco and Karen Harkness

Topeka (WIBW) - National attention brought in nearly a dozen calls on a Topeka cold case.

Saturday's episode of "48 Hours Mystery" on CBS featured the 2002 murders of Karen Harkness and Michael Sisco.

Topeka Police manned a special hotline after the episode. TPD Detective Richard Volle says the calls they received contained information already known. Still, he says the show has people talking about the case again. He says that makes them hopeful it will spark a lead.

As for tests on chewing gum mentioned on the show, Volle says they came back not connected to anyone associated with the case. However, he says other items remain at the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for DNA examination. It's not known when those results will be back.
