Topeka (WIBW) - A Topeka man is behind bars, accused of fleeing authorities.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office says it was called around 7 pm Wednesday to check the welfare of a person driving to the Topeka area from Fort Riley.

About a half-hour later, an officer found a vehicle matching the description driving erratically near SE Croco and Seward. The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled.

Authorities say the pursuit ended about six minutes later, when the driver pulled into a relative's driveway in the 800 block of SE Tecumseh.

The driver, 22-year old Brenton Bacon of Topeka was taken into custody and booked on charges of felony fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, transporting an open container, and other related traffic offenses.
