Former K-State Star Pleads No Contest To Shaking Son

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)_Former Kansas State University football player Leon Patton has pleaded no contest to one charge of aggravated battery and one charge of battery.

Patton was accused of shaking his then 2 month-old son in July of 2008.

In the plea agreement, Patton's lawyer says he did not stipulate that he had shook his son.

His trial was set to begin on August 31. Riley Co. Attorney Barry Wilkerson told 13 News that Patton will be sentenced by district court Judge Paul Miller on September 21.

Last month, prosecutors attempted to get evidence of prior violent tendencies included in the trial, but the judge disallowed that evidence.
