WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A man has been sentenced to more than 47 years in prison for kidnapping a Wichita-area convenience store clerk and sexually assaulting her during the three days he held her captive.

Forty-year-old Robert Abner learned his sentence Friday in Sedgwick County District Court.

The sentencing hearing initially was scheduled for last month but was delayed because of defense questions about how Abner's prior misdemeanor convictions should count toward his sentence.

Abner was convicted in June of six counts of rape, two counts of aggravated sodomy, and one count each of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping.

Prosecutors said Abner abducted the clerk last summer while she was working at a Viola (veye-OH-lah) convenience story. He eventually dropped her off outside the home of her family's minister.
