WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A judge has delayed the trial of a former south-central Kansas police officer accused of offering to seek the dismissal of criminal charges against a woman in exchange for sex.
Calvin Schaffer had been scheduled for trial July 28 on a charge of defrauding the Goddard Police Department. On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Wesley Brown postponed the trial to Sept. 8.
The judge's order comes a day after the Schaffer's lawyer filed an unopposed request for a continuance, arguing that the defense received some prosecution evidence just recently.
The 44-year-old officer allegedly used a police computer while on duty to send naked photos of himself to a Wichita woman he had arrested weeks earlier.
