Topeka (WIBW) - Topeka Police are investigating a pair of business breakins within seconds of each other overnight.

Just after midnight Tuesday morning, the alarm sounded at the Curves on Southwest 37th and Burlingame. As it went off, so did the alarm around the corner at Brickhouse Antiques.

Brickhouse co-owner Lisa Cusick says police told them the alarms sounded within nine seconds of each other. She says at her business, the thieves broke a window and rifled through the cash register, but only got away with some change. She says the suspect left a trail of quarters from the register to where he or she climbed back out the window, and only got away with a few dollars.

Cusick says it's a reminder that fighting crime takes a community effort. She says she hopes veryone will keep their eyes out and if they see something suspicous, they'll call police so whoever is doing this is caught.

Anyone with information on the breakins can call Crimestoppers at 785-234-0007.
