SALINA, Kan. (AP) _ A third trial has been set for a murder defendant whose previous two trials ended in hung juries.

The Salina Journal-World reported Monday that 21-year-old Cameron Nelson is scheduled to go on trial again Sept. 9 in Saline County District Court in the April 2008 shooting death of 38-year-old Mark Simpson.

Jurors were unable to reach unanimous decision during his previous trials in December and May.

Saline County District Judge Daniel Hebert has said that the next trial would likely be the last if it also ends in a hung jury.

Nelson remains in Saline County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
