WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A former Kansas police officer accused of offering to seek the dismissal of criminal charges against a woman
in exchange for sex has pleaded not guilty.

Calvin Schaffer made his first appearance in federal court Wednesday. He's charged with wire fraud after allegedly sending naked pictures of himself from a Goddard police computer to a Wichita woman whom he arrested on a drunken driving charge.

Schaffer declined comment after the hearing. His defense attorney, Roger Falk, said his client is innocent.

An affidavit filed in the case contends Angelique Mason secretly recorded conversations with Schaffer after her arrest. Schaffer
also reportedly told FBI agents that the woman had sent him nude
photos of herself before he ever sent her photos of himself.
