Topeka Man Charged With Murder In The Second Degree

TOPEKA, KANSAS – Timothy Deandre Arterberry, 18, Topeka, KS, is charged with one count of murder in the second degree, a level-1 person felony, one count of criminal possession of a firearm, a level-8 nonperson felony, and one count of obstructing the legal process, a level-9 nonperson felony. The alleged incident occurred April 11, 2008.

At that time police said the shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. in the area of Mahogany Lodge. Officers said they heard shots and chased Arterberry before they caught up with him and made the arrest. He was 17 at the time of the shooting.

The Topeka Police Department investigated the incident. Shawnee County Assistant District Attorneys Jacqie Spradling and Mickie Brassel are the prosecuting attorneys.

As in all criminal cases, a person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The charging document filed merely contains allegations of criminal conduct.
