Police Need Victim Who Fled Crime Scene to ID Suspect

TOPEKA, Kan. - At 1:40 AM Friday Topeka Police officers responded to a 911 call originating in the parking lot in the 4200 block SW Huntoon of a man pointing a firearm at another during an altercation between the two.

Police say the armed subject fled the scene just prior to officers’ arrival, with the victim following and talking to dispatch on his cell phone.

The victim told dispatch the armed suspect was one of several occupants in a Silver Olds Bravado.

An officer coming into the area saw the suspect vehicle and initiated a stop. As the officer turned around on the Bravado, the victim, driving a dark colored Navigator, turned off.

When the officer activated his emergency equipment a gun was thrown from the Bravado’s passenger side. Unfortunately, the victim did not show up to help identify the suspect who confronted him with a gun. The four people in the Bravado were interviewed.

The Topeka Police Department is asking the victim and any witnesses to come forward. Detectives on duty say they may be able to put a case together, but need the victim to come in and give details of the incident.

No names are being released because no charges have been filed at this time. Information is being sought.

Police are continuing to investigate and ask that anyone with information call detectives at 368-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
