Sentencing Monday for Convicted Sanderholm Killer

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Jurors have returned a guilty verdict in the capital murder trial of a man accused of killing a college student two years ago.

Twenty-five-year-old Justin Thurber, of Arkansas City, could face the death penalty in the kidnapping, rape and strangulation of 19-year-old Jodi Sanderholm.

Jurors deliberated for less than an hour Thursday morning before reaching their verdicts. They spent two hours and 45 minutes discussing the case Wednesday afternoon.

His sentencing hearing will take place Monday, February 16 at 9 a.m.

The jury also found the aggravating circumstances of attempted rape and sodomy in reaching their capital murder verdict. Thurber was separately found guilty of aggravated kidnapping.

Sanderholm, a Cowley College student, was found dead in a wildlife area near Arkansas City in January 2007.
