WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A federal judge refuses to intervene in the jailhouse treatment of a Haysville nurse.
Linda Schneider is being held at the Butler County jail awaiting trial on charges of running what prosecutors call a ``pill mill'' with her husband at their Haysville clinic.
Schneider's lawyers contend she's been subjected to cruel and punitive conditions while in solitary confinement. Schneider was placed in solitary for possessing a hair tie she received from a jail nurse. A guard decided the hair tie was contraband.
U.S. District Judge Monti Belot on Monday refused to intervene, saying the defense failed to prove its allegations.
