TOPEKA, Kan. - The man who pleaded guilty to sex crimes against two children has been sentenced.
In August, Oscar Garza, 41, pleaded guilty to two counts of Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child and one count of Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child - 14-16 Years old.
Friday, Sept. 19, Garza was sentenced to 165 months each for two of the counts and 41 months for the third, all to run concurrent. That means Garza is set to spend 13 years 9 months in jail.
Court documents show he committed the crimes with two children in southwest Topeka between February of 2007 and January of this year while he was using cocaine.
The court noted that Garza entered treatment for the drug addiction before he was arrested and hasn't used since.
Three additional counts of Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child - 14-16 Years Old were dropped when Garza entered his guilty plea.
