TOPEKA, Kan. - The owner of a southeast Topeka gymnastics, dance and cheerleading business has been arrested in connect with an alleged sexual assault of a teenager reported to Topeka police Sunday.
David Byrd, 48, who owns the Gym Zone, 3526 SE 21st St., was arrested and booked at the Shawnee County Department of Corrections Monday on charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, unlawful criminal restraint and criminal threats.
Police would not say whether the alleged incident happened at the Gym Zone, only that a teenage girl reported she was assaulted by a man she knew at a business in the 3500 block of SE 21st.
Police are asking anyone with information in relation to the arrest to call Topeka Police detectives at 368-9400.
