Law enforcement agencies across Kansas teamed up Friday and will continue to for the next couple of weeks as they take part in a nationwide campaign. With the Labor day holiday around the corner Kansas law enforcement is taking drunk driving very seriously.
Local, County and State law enforcement gathered at the Shawnee Detention Center to bring attention to the consequences of driving while impaired.
"Drunk driving. Over the limit. Under arrest" is a nationwide campaign getting impaired drivers off the road.
Karen Whitman, a Kansas traffic safety resource prosecutor says, "To be convicted of a D-U-I ..there are 3 ways. First, over the limit .08. Secondly, under the influence of drugs which can also impair your ability to drive. Lastly, a combination of drugs and alcohol."
