TOPEKA, Kan. - The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred early Friday morning.
Residents in a southeast Shawnee County neighborhood reportedly heard 7-12 gunshots around 4:37 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to the area of the 3800 BLK of SE 31st. A home in that block was hit multiple times by gunfire; the 4 people in the residence were unharmed.
A vehicle, possibly linked to the shooting, was located behind the Sonic Drive-In at SE 29th and Croco. The vehicle, a Silver 1997 Ford Escort, appeared to be broken down in the parking lot.
The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody. Another man was picked up nearby, as Deputies searched the area. One other person, believed to be involved, hasn’t been located.
All three men are believed to be in their late teens and residents of Topeka.
