Charges Filed Against Off-Duty Officer Involved in Shooting

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Topeka Police Department has learned that the District Attorney has filed charges Friday against Jason Judd - one of the off-duty officers who was involved in an off-duty shooting on March 18. Judd will remain on paid administrative leave pending the criminal process. He is entitled to due process of the law, the same due process that all citizens are afforded.

An internal investigation into the incident is now beginning. The three other off-duty officers who were involved will remain on paid administrative leave at this time pending the completion of the District Attorney’s review and an internal investigation. Their names have not yet been released.

Because this is a personnel matter, the police department is unable to go into further details regarding this issue.

A 27-year-old and 18-year-old male were critically injured in the shooting at 7418 SW 25th St., Topeka.
