CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) A St. Louis County judge has set a trial date for the case against a 14-year-old boy accused of first-degree murder.
Judge John Ross set a Nov. 10 trial date for Owen Welty.
Welty is charged with killing 64-year-old neighbor Don McCollough in November 2006 at his farm east of Bloomfield, Mo. Welty was 13 at the time and has been incarcerated since his arrest.
He will be tried as an adult, and faces life in prison if convicted.
Experts have said Welty is schizophrenic and suffers from a depressive disorder with psychotic features that include hallucination and hearing demonic voices.
Welty will be one of the youngest people ever tried as an adult in a Missouri murder case.
