Previously Blocked Execution Goes Forward in Texas

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) _ Almost a year after the Supreme Court
blocked his execution, a Texas inmate who fatally shot his adoptive
parents has been put to death.

The high court refused to issue a last-minute reprieve for Carlton Turner. Last year it considered a challenge to lethal injections but ruled in April that the methods are not cruel.

Turner apologized for killing his adoptive parents a decade ago at their suburban Dallas home.

He was the second Texas inmate executed this year. At least 14 others are set to die in the busiest death penalty state over the next few months, including two more this month.
