WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department says authorities have apprehended the man wanted in the June 23 abduction of a convenience store worker.
Undersheriff Robert Hinshaw said Wednesday that the department was notified by teletype that 39-year-old Robert Abner of Wichita had been taken into custody. A media briefing has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to provide details of Abner's arrest.
An arrest warrant issued for Abner said he was charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping, one count of aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and six counts of rape.
He is accused of robbing a woman who was working at the Viola-area store, blindfolding her and forcing her to ride on the floor of the getaway car. She was held at a home in Wichita until she was released three days later.
