SALINA, Kan. (AP) _ Police say they arrested a 16-year-old boy who tried to exchange five $20 bills bearing a one-eyed Andrew Jackson for a real $100 bill at a Salina Wal-Mart.
The teenager was booked into Saline County Juvenile Detention Center after a clerk noticed something funny about the five $20 bills on Wednesday. Salina Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield said that President Andrew Jackson's picture on the bills had only one eye.
After using a counterfeit detection pen to confirm the bills were fake, the clerk alerted store officials who asked the boy to wait for police. The youth was later arrested.
Mansfield said the crumpled bills looked too small, and all carried the same serial number. Police recovered more of the bills in the teen's car, and said he may have tried to pass the fakes at other Salina retailers.
