WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Former Cherokee County Attorney Michael
Goodrich has pleaded guilty to a single count of extorting the
owners and employees of an adult club.

In his plea Monday, Goodrich acknowledged he received money and other perks from the owner and employees of the Sensations Gentlemen's Club in Galena in return for dismissing traffic tickets
and other favors. The value of the favors he got is estimated to be
less than $5,000

“A public servant at any level who exploits his position for improper purposes undermines the people’s trust in their government,” U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren said in a statement.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 8. Extortion carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.

Co-defendant Timothy Schooley also pleaded guilty in April to blackmail. He is to be sentenced July 14.
