NEW YORK (AP) _ A man accused of running the escort service that
led to the downfall of former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer will
plead guilty. That's according to Mark Brener's attorney.
The 62-year-old will appear in a Manhattan federal court Thursday, after having negotiated a plea deal with the U.S. attorney's office.
The agreement is similar to one reached with Cecil Suwal, who ran the day-to-day operations of the escort service. Suwal pleaded guilty to a pair of federal conspiracy charges. Her plea bargain calls for between 21 and 27 months in prison, although a judge can depart from the recommendation.
