OLATHE, Kan. (AP) _ The FBI says federal agents briefly pursued a drug dealer as a possible suspect in the abduction and death of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith last summer.

That's according to testimony in a hearing in the murder case against 27-year-old Edwin Hall of Olathe. Hall is accused of abducting Smith from a Target store parking lot last year and killing her.

An FBI agent testified that a tip led agents to a Grandview, Missouri, man who reportedly looked like the man seen in a surveillance video abducting the young woman. But Agent Michael Oyler says the man wasn't a suspect for long.

Oyler testified during a hearing by Johnson County District Judge Peter Ruddick. The hearing was a response to defense claims that prosecutors hadn't provided evidence that might help Hall.
