Kansas Doctor Stephen Schneider is scheduled to be released from jail Friday. That's when Sedgwick County court officials will set up the GPS monitoring that will track his movements, while he awaits his trial. Dr. Schneider, tagged as the "Pill Mill" doctor, is accused of illegal medication disbursements.
U.S. Magistrate Donald Bostwick slightly changed the terms of Schneider's release in a court hearing Thursday. But he refused to grant a government request forcing the physician to post a security bond, rather than an unsecured $325,000 bond. The doctor has agreed to forfeit more than $2 million in assets if, for any reason, he fails to show up for his court dates.
