WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A Kansas doctor jailed on charges of illegally prescribing medication is set to be released on Friday.
That's when court officials will be able to set up the GPS monitoring that will track Dr. Stephen Schneider's movements while he awaits trial.
U.S Magistrate Judge Donald Bostwick modified slightly on Thursday the release conditions for Schneider. But he refused to grant a government request to require a security bond, rather than an unsecured $325,000 bond. The doctor has agreed to forfeit more than $2 million in assets if he does not show up for court dates.
