KHP Trooper Makes Drug Stop on I-35

A weekend drug bust is under investigation in Lyon County.

13 News radio partner KVOE reports a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper stopped 37-year old Jose Castillo on Saturday for speeding on I-35 in Emporia.

The trooper found no identification, so he searched the truck for a license and ended up finding three kilograms of cocaine. The drugs were worth about $66,000.

Troopers say Castillo was returning to Iowa from San Antonio, Texas. He's being held on suspicion of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.
