A man who pleaded guilty to robbing a bank last summer will spend 17-and-a-half years behind bars.
U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren says 55-year old Dale Allen Robertson, 55, was sentenced Monday to 211 months in federal prison.
Robertson pleaded guilty to robbing the First Kansas Bank and Trust at 405 E. Nelson Street in Edgerton June 6, 2007. In his plea, he admitted to brandishing a revolver, putting a plastic bag on the counter and demanding money. During the holdup, Robertson pointed the gun at the belly of a teller who was visibly pregnant.
Robertson escaped on foot, but was later caught during a traffic stop in Lawrence.
Investigators identified Robertson after obtaining a series of color photos taken earlier the same day at a bank in Wellsville. Investigators say the photos were taken about an hour before the Edgerton robbery, and showed a man acting suspiciously. An employee at the Wellsville bank told investigators he recognized Robertson because Robertson had robbed him at gunpoint about 15 years ago.
