A forgery suspect sparked a brief pursuit, and might have contributed to a fender bender in another part of town Wednesday night.
Officers were trying to track down a suspect who tried to pass a forged check at the Kaw Valley Bank location near SE 29th and Croco Road just before 5 pm.
An officer stopped the suspect's vehicle, but the suspect handed him his ID, then took off.
The Kansas Highway Patrol later caught up with him at 77th and South Topeka Boulevard. The suspect was wanted on a felony warrant out of Georgia.
Topeka Police say law enforcement trying to get to the south side of town to assist in the search for the suspect might have been a factor in a fender bender that tied up traffic in the 1100 block of Wanamaker around 5 pm Wednesday.
No one was hurt. Topeka Police say a driver rear-ended another vehicle. They say he might have been distracted by law enforcement moving through the area.
