A Northeast Kansas woman is facing murder charges for the death of her newborn. Deatils are not being released on how the baby died.
26 year old Rhonda Dunlap is charged with second degree murder and aggravated endangerment of a child.
The charges stem from the death of Dunlap's newborn child in July of 2006 in Wamego. County attorney Sherri Schuck says at that time the Pottawatomie county sheriff's department was notified by a family member that there was a child missing. Once at the home they found the child's body and the investigation began..Dunlap was arrested January 22, 2008 in Junction City.
Dunlap's attorney has filed a motion to determine competency and until that is heard then all other trial proceedings will be on hold. Dunlap is being held on a $300,000 bond.
