OLATHE, Kan. (AP) _ A Gardner teen is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 16-year-old boy after a fight.
Police say the victim, Dakota Deremus, had a heart condition. Johnson County juvenile authorities have charged Dustin Howard, 17, with involuntary manslaughter.
Deremus was found dead near his home Monday afternoon.
After an autopsy found that DeRemus had a heart problem, police ruled his death a homicide and took the other teen into custody. The death was first classified as suspicious.
Officials said DeRemus attended classes Monday at Gardner Edgerton High School, which dismissed at 3 p.m. He was found dead shortly before 5 p.m.
The victim's father claims DeRemus was a victim of bullying by the other boy for two years.
