Babysitter Charged with Murder

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A Wichita woman who babysat her roommate's 19-month-old son is charged with first degree murder of the boy.

Twenty-four-year-old Heidi Dieball appeared in court Wednesday.

Her bond was set at $500,000 and her preliminary hearing was set for January 23 in last weekend's death of Andrew Haga.

An attorney for Dieball could not be immediately found.

The boy's mother, Athena Haga, told The Wichita Eagle that Dieball had babysat for her son before the two women moved in together on Christmas Eve.

Dieball was unemployed and Haga worked long hours as a bartender.

Dieball told Haga the boy had fallen off the couch, but doctors believe his injuries were too severe to believe the account.
