COLUMBUS, Kan. (AP) _ Testimony resumes Tuesday in the Cherokee County trial of a man accused in the shooting death of former Pittsburg State basketball player Jamey Richardson.
Samuel Becker faces 12 counts including first-degree murder and kidnapping in the Jan. 30, 2007, slaying of Richardson in Baxter Springs. The 22-year-old Becker and three other men were initially charged in the slaying but charges against one of them were dropped.
Aaron Graham of Pittsburg will be tried on starting March 3. Edward Gordon of Baxter Springs has agreed to plead no contest to second-degree murder in exchange for testifying against his co-defendants.
The first witnesses were called Monday including Richardson's fiancé, Jennifer Edwards, who testified that she begged him not to meet Gordon, who had summoned him to his home.
