WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Police identify a man they say crashed his car through glass doors at Wichita City Hall and out the other side of the building.
Marcus Johnson is charged with evading and eluding police, reckless driving and destruction of property. Johnson got out of his Lincoln Town Car inside the city parking garage and surrendered.
No one was injured in the 12:37 a.m. crash, which left the first-floor security in shambles.
The incident damaged some of the 8 million dollars in security enhancements that were part of a three-phase security upgrade at City Hall.
Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said the suspect was upset about personal problems.
Minutes earlier an officer confronted Johnson at a convenience store after he left his vehicle unoccupied with loud music blaring. He told the officer that he was going to drive his car into City Hall.
Soon the car crashed through the east doors of City Hall. The suspect drove the car through the first floor between the elevators and smashed out the west doors.
