KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) _ A Wyandotte County judge orders two young men to stand trial in the 2005 slaying of Bonner Springs store manager Robin Bell.
Robert Haberlein of Kansas City, Kan., and John Backus of Bonner Springs are each charged with first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. A 17-year-old girl facing the same charges testified in their preliminary hearing Thursday.
Prosecutors said they would not seek to try Amber Russell as an adult if her testimony is truthful.
Russell told the court that instead of fleeing the crime scene at the Dollar General store, she and the others went to a nearby McDonald's to eat. Russell also said that Bell was a friend of her family's.
Judge David Boal also ruled that Haberlein, who was 17 at the time of the crime, be tried as an adult.
