2 Mayetta Men Charged with Burning 11 Year-Old

Two Mayetta men are in custody, charged in connection with an incident last Sunday in which an eleven year-old boy was reportedly thrown through a burning table.

Patrick Potts, 21, and and Robert Jessepe, 19, have been charged with Aggravated Battery, Abuse of a child, and endangering a child.

The Jackson County Sheriff's office found the child last Sunday around 7:30 p.m. when they responded to a call at 16048 L4 Ln. in Mayetta.

He had suffered severe second and third-degree burns and, after being initially taken to St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, was transported by Life Star to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kanss City.

The incident remains under investigation.

Both Potts and Jesseppe are being held at the Jackson County Detention center on fifty thousand dollar bonds.
