Missing Children's National Poster Contest
|
|
TOPEKA, KBI HEADQUARTERS -- We're on the hunt for Good Kids who can join some other Kansas 5th graders in previous years.. as winners of a statewide and national poster contest.
The Missing Children's Awareness Day Poster Contest now begins with the school year, not the new year. So this year's competition is already underway.
For the past 10 years, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has asked 5th graders around the country to submit their entries for the contest. Missing Children's Day was started by President Reagan in May, 1983, marking the anniversary of Eton Paetz's disappearance in New York City. Amber Awareness Day (the day this contest winner will be announced in Washington) remembers the day Amber Hagermann vanished from the streets of Arlington, Texas.
This poster contest makes sure we never forget them, or any of our missing children. Your poster must contain the words "Bring Our Missing Children Home" and it has to be 11" by 14" in size.. no other sizes will be accepted.
Our previous two Kansas winners are Madisen Pool of Clay Center and Hannah Judy from Stilwell.. your child could be next! Find out details about the poster contest FROM YOUR SCHOOL before those posters are mailed to the KBI offices here in Topeka. (The address is on our interview.) If you're a young artist who'd like to help in the cause, we'd love to see your work. Good Luck!
