TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - When it comes to affordable health care, Topeka's St. Francis Health Center ranks among the best in the state.
The consumer website NerdWallet recently did an analysis to determine the 10 most affordable hospitals in Kansas. St. Francis ranked second only to Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita.
Lawrence Memorial Hospital came in third on the list, while Coffey County Hospital in Burlington was fifth.
NerdWallet determined the rankings by studying data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the 100 most common treatments at 54 Kansas hospitals. The list also noted patient satisfaction data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.
Of St. Francis, the NerdWallet site wrote:
Since 1909, St. Francis Health Center has provided a range of services to the Topeka area, including a fully integrated heart and vascular center, nine primary care clinics, emergency services and surgical services. Additionally, programs focused on preventive care include centers for mammography screening and sleep disorders. Patients can also find affordable care for respiratory failure and hip replacement at St. Francis. With a patient satisfaction rating of 74%, it is also ranked in the top 10% in the nation for critical care by Healthgrades and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
