The following is a news releast from St. Francis Health Center:
St. Francis Health has begun using some of the first portion of what will be a fully-renovated Emergency Department.
McPherson Contractors recently completed Phase One of a $9.6 million dollar project, and doctors, nurses and other staff are now using the new space to treat patients. McPherson will immediately begin Phase Two of the project, which is expected to be completed in Spring 2014. The entire three-phase project, designed by Schwerdt Design Group, is slated for completion in mid-2014.
Phase One construction has resulted in the addition of several new exam rooms, new nurses’ stations and locker rooms for staff. The remaining two phases will include additional exam rooms, expanded trauma care and several specialty care rooms, including senior care and major cardiac/chest pain care.
Emergency patients and family members will benefit from improved wait times, an expanded, inviting wait area, as well as a new public entrance and expanded parking. St. Francis will continue offering its popular valet parking at the ER entrance.
The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System is providing $7.6 million dollars in direct capital investment for the project. The St. Francis Foundation is engaged in securing $2 million in community support.
