TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - People were trying to help fill the Red Cross shelves with blood Monday.
The organization held a blood drive at the Red Cross office on SW 17th Street, east of Washburn. The event was a chance for the Capital Area Chapter to promote its Ride for the Red fundraiser, coming up Sept. 8.
The Red Cross estimate that if just two more people above the number expected at a collection donated blood through the rest of the summer, there would be enough on the shelves to meet patients needs.
