TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A night of food and fun will help babies get a healthier start in life.
Topeka's March of Dimes held its annual Signature Chefs benefit Thursday night at the Downtown Ramada Hotel and Convention Center.
Nearly a dozen chefs from area restaurants and caterers cooked up delicious dishes for attendees to sample. Guests also could bid on live and silent auction items.
The event included honoring State Senator Vicki Schmidt, R-Topeka, with the Saving Babies Award for her efforts pushing legislation to expand newborn screenings. The crowd also heard from this year's March of Dimes Ambassador Family, Shay and Aaron Gooden and their twins Gavin and Zoey.
13's Melissa Brunner emceed the event, while Ryan and Gwen Gigous served as volunteer chairpersons.
