Governor Signs Proclamation For Suicide Prevention Week

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Memorial Mall played host to a public forum highlighting the awareness for suicide prevention.

Carla Drescher,Assistant Director of Behavioral Health Services with the Kansas Department For Aging And Disability and Shawn Sullivan, Secretary of KDADS read off Governor Sam Brownback's proclamation designating September 8th through the 14th as Suicide Prevention Week in Kansas.

Mental health activists,professionals and those who loss someone close to them to the disease met with governor about the issue of suicide and mental health issues in the state of Kansas.

Mental health professionals encourages everyone to talk openly and honestly about suicide.
