TOPEKA (WIBW) -- It was a beautiful Tuesday afternoon to have your health checked, and take home some healthy farmer's market foods at the same time.
Shawnee County's Health Agency co-hosted free health screenings with the Community Health Center at the farmer's market and clinic event. Those workers got out of the office, and set up shop at the County's Health Clinic at 2025 SE California. Six weeks of planning went into organizing the new event, promoting the next few days as National Health Center Week here and around the nation. Partners from the Health Center provide primary care to their patients, along with vital women's health, maternal and infant health programs and behavioral health services.
Members of Topeka's Sunflower Lions Club rolled in the organization's large Mobile Screening Unit to check people's blood pressure or blood sugar levels, even offering their famed vision and hearing screenings. The unit was only in Topeka Tuesday, then it's on its way to Hays this weekend.. before a longer stop inside one of the buildings at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.
