Full news release from Stormont-Vail:
Cotton-O’Neil Clinic, a division of Stormont-Vail HealthCare, has set the dates for its 2013 Seasonal Flu Shot Clinics. The clinics will be available September 3 through November 21. Cotton-O’Neil Clinic physicians, including pediatricians, recommend everyone 6 months and older get an annual flu shot as soon as it becomes available in your area.

A new walk-in clinic at HealthWise 55 has been added this year, and will be open for walk-ins Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 3 through Nov. 21. The popular drive-thru clinic will be open Sept. 10, 11, 12 and 17, 18, 19. In addition, PediatricCare will host two special flu shot evening clinics. Any Cotton-O’Neil or PediatricCare patient will be able to get vaccinated on these evenings.
Any Cotton-O’Neil patient, 19 years of age and older, who has had a seasonal flu vaccine with no complications, can participate in the Drive-thru Flu Shot Clinic. All others should visit one of the Walk-in Flu Shot Clinics.

Families under the care of a PediatricCare physician, who need help to pay for their child’s flu vaccine, are encouraged to talk to their pediatrician to learn how to participate in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program.

The seasonal flu vaccine is especially important for pregnant women, people 65 years of age and older, and others with chronic illnesses like asthma, diabetes, heart disease or lung disease. People with chronic illnesses may have an increased chance of developing pneumonia as a result of getting the flu. Those who may have close contact with high-risk individuals including infants, should also be vaccinated. That might include: adults or children living with or caring for people at high-risk of developing complications.

Consent forms in English and Spanish are available at stormontvail.org/flu-clinics and may be completed and brought to the seasonal flu shot clinic to save time.
