Good Kids

Life Scout Todd Whelan had to choose a major community service project to earn his Eagle Scout Award. But building projects at his church were nearly completed for volunteers to handle. That's when he called on his family history to help Topeka's Kelly House.

Todd's grandfather was helped by the Kelly House as he battled Alzheimer's Disease.. and even lived in the house at 1800 SW Fairmont where Todd and his father are helping build a new storage shed.

Todd hopes the completed shed will be used for Kelly House administrators and staffers to store items like tables and chairs, or lawn mowers used at the facility. Whelan says the man hours they've put in, will easily top the requirement for the Eagle Scout project.
