INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Two Kansas City women plan to fly to Indiana
this week to donate breast tissue samples to a cancer research
Chris Baker and Robin Colgrove are making the 460-mile trip to undergo a simple procedure to remove a small portion of their breast tissue. The two friends will also give blood samples to the Susan Komen Tissue Bank at the IU Simon Cancer Center.
The two women are both healthy, but are considered ``high risk'' for cancer because of their families' medical histories.
The pair will fly to Indianapolis on Friday and donate the samples Saturday.
Researchers are collecting samples from women with and without breast cancer in an effort to highlight genetic differences and hopefully better understand the disease.
