For nearly three years, 13 News has been dedicated to finding homes for kids. This week, we update you on the huge hearts of Northeast Kansans.
When we first began our project, back in the winter of 2001, Lutheran Social Service had the adoption contract. Then the contract went to Kansas Children's Service League, which has been our partner since July of 2002.
Since that time, we've featured 58 Wednesday's Children. Of those kids, 15 are living in adoptive homes under close watch. And 12 of the kids have adoptive resources, which means families have been identified for them. That adds up to 27 or about half of the children who've been featured.
The response has been tremendous but we want to remind you that the need is still great! For more information about children in need of adoption, call KCSL at 877-530-5275. You can also log onto their website at www.cominghomekansas.org.
