TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Shawnee County Commissioners learned Monday about the the growing number of services being offered at the Shawnee County Health Department.
Director of the Shawnee County Health Department, Allison Alejos said that today's presentation was her way of improving awareness of the work being done by her agency such as community and population based services geared toward making Shawnee County residents healthier.
One of those initiatives is the food policy counsel, the newly formed counsel of healthcare professionals which is looking at ways to improve prenatal care for infants and mother's and giving local residents access to nutritious snacks and foods.
