(WIBW) - The murder of a Salina woman is spurring action from the Governor's office.
Gov. Mark Parkinson announced a special $5,000 reward Monday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who killed Beverly Logan.
“This horrific crime happened in broad daylight near a busy area of town, so we’re hoping someone has information,” Parkinson said. “Beverly’s family deserves answers and Salina residents deserve a safer community. If someone has information, we encourage them to come forward and help put Beverly’s murderer behind bars.”
On January 12, 2008, Salina Police Department officers went to Logan’s residence to find her front door ajar. Logan's was found dead in her kitchen.
Investigating officers reported that it was apparent she had been brutally attacked and believed the homicide occurred around noon, in broad daylight. Logan's home is adjacent to a heavily patronized convenience store on a major arterial street.
Despite an extensive investigation by the Salina Police Department, a suspect has not been identified in the investigation.
Kansas Statute, K.S.A. 75-113, provides for the Governor to offer a reward of five thousand dollars ($5,000) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any criminal or perpetrator(s) whenever any heinous crime has been committed in the state.
Gov. Parkinson issued Executive Order 09-10 pursuant to the Kansas statute for Logan's homicide.
The Salina Police Department is encouraging anyone with information regarding this incident to please call 785-826-7210 or the TIPS Hotline at 785-825-TIPS (8477).
